About Me
At present I work with adults and adolescents delivering person-centred counselling, Motivational Interviewing, CBT and Emotional coping skills (DBT skills) and trauma focused CBT interventions, in addition I also facilitate supervisions groups and run training courses in Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Emotional Resilience and Attachment and trauma.

Previous to this I gained experience across various childcare services, including teaching, until I decided to specialise in therapy due to a desire to have enable a greater and deeper change with young people I was working with. My early career was based around the fitness industry, balancing competitive martial arts with personal training and coaching.

I hold a first class degree in BA Hons in Person-Centred counselling and I am an Accredited and registered Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioral Therapist under the BACP British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy professions (reg no. 267042 ). My working background helped to inform my clinical approach to working Pluralistically, whereby I am flexible to the client's needs and goals whilst maintaining a collaborate therapeutic relationship, this has been further enhanced by training in motivational interviewing which was completed at the Tavistock and Portman trust.

Having worked in both services and personal clinics, I have had great success and feedback from clients when working in the comfort and security of their own home. This encouraged me to offer the service and take some of the anxiety and stigma out of going to a clinic.

Part of my previous role working within a therapeutic childcare industry has been to support the front line workers and help them manage their feelings and reflect on challenging situations and practice. Facilitating group supervisions has become a fundamental therapeutic tool in helping services to reduce stress and increase positive practice in future situations.

My interest in Emotional Resilience was forged by personal circumstances which drove me to research and consider a holistic approach to managing difficult life challenges and changes. This exploration was liberating and insightful and helped build a framework to help people challenge their own perceptions and build flexibility to changing circumstances.

Having recieved an A in my Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy I started to implement this approach as well as Emotional Coping skills (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy DBT skills) with the adolescent clients I worked with. At this time I started to realise the potential for this approach to help in achieving life goals and also being successful in sport. This lead me to do further research into Psychological Skills Training and I started to use these techniques for my own personal goals and found great success in competitions over several years gaining numerous titles and accolades. I now implement CBT for working with anxiety, depression amongst other difficulties as well as creating framework for other interventions.

I have completed a course in Trauma Focussed CBT for children with PTSD and Mentalization Based Therapy for families (MBT-F) at the Anna Frued centre with further enhances my knowledge in working effectively with trauma.
I have also completed my ADOS 2 observational diagnostic course which has given me the clinical qualification to inform my practice for my specialist area of interest.
Most recently, my interest and passion in supporting people who have experienced difficult early experiences has led me to study and complete Schema Therapy accredited training under the ISST and I am currently working towards certification.
This approach works with clients who have long term patterns of behaviour and are maybe stuck and often have experienced adverse earlier experiences.
